Suriya's Anjaan release date locked

The Suriya - Samantha starrer Anjaan, directed by Lingusamy is one among the most expected films this year. This film has already been shot extensively in Mumbai and Goa, and close to 40% of the film has been completed. The remaining portions of the film will also be canned in the state of Maharashtra. Currently, the film is being shot in the Whistling Woods campus in Mumbai.

 

 Yuvan Shankar Raja has been signed on to do music for the film and 5 songs have been planned totally. Yuvan has already worked with Lingusamy in films such as Sandakozhi, Vettai and Paiyya and his songs played a big role in the success of all these films.

  

Anjaan has been planned as an August 15th release to coincide with Independence Day. August 15th also happens to be a Friday, it must be noted.

What is 'Goli Soda' About?

When a bottle of soda is sealed tight, there is a lot of gas that is produced and stored under pressure between the liquid and cap. If the cap is priced open harder than it demands, all the gas catastrophically renders the bottle into exploding its contents, given the high tension and pressure inside. That's science. There's also psychology to it, says directo Vijay Milton of 'Azhagaai Irukiraai Bayamaai Irukiradhu' fame. Directing his second with a group of adolescents straight from the pages of 'Pasanga', 'Goli Soda' starring Shriram, 'Pakkoda' Pandi, Kuttimani and Shalini, had its press meet recently, where the director revealed a lot about the film, providing a thorough insight. "The film is about how pent up pressure can blow up someone, especially a person of impressionable age, like the subjects of 'Goli Soda', who are about 15 years old. It is not only a delicate subject that has been dealt with, but also a sensitive cast. At 15, it is practically impossible to make them perform in any commercial scenes - like a joke cracked over a bottle of whisky, or a romantic duet.

Further, it is an age when one would begin to differentiate the right from wrong, but not have enough physical strength to stand up and fight. Yet, there is an interesting 7 minutes and 48 seconds long fight sequence in the film; the sequence was canned without public knowledge in Asia's busiest market - Koyambedu. Supreme Sundar has choreographed the sequence convincingly appealing; in fact most of the film revolves around Koyambedu market. For character called ATM in the film, we were looking for a girl who does not have striking good features that would bowl you over at the first sight, but a sort of girl you would grow strong liking to, over time. After an ordeal, we have come up with just the right face" says the director. Speaking further on the technicalities, and concluding the event by presenting all of the eight assistant directors with a gold chain, Vijay Milton said "Arunagiri has composed the music for 'Goli Soda' and the film has come out really well. I have approached 20 directors personally, and screened the film for them, taking notes of their opinion in bringing out the best possible. In the 62 days of shooting, 22 days used jimmy jib and 32 days was consumed using steady cam. Rolled out in a metred funds, 'Goli Soda' will be a trendsetter for small and medium budget films."

Manoj, Vidyut in Suriya's next with Lingusamy

The latest additions to the cast of Lingusamy's film

with Suriya are Manoj Bajpai and Vidyut Jamwal. While Manoj will be playing the antagonist in the film, we hear that the Thuppakki villain Vidyut will be essaying a prominent role in it.

A source close to the film reveals, "Manoj Bajpai will be playing the main villain in the film. He is a seasoned actor, and his character has been etched in such a way that it will bring out the best in him. And Vidyut, who has already worked with Ajith and Vijay in Kollywood, has been roped in to play an important role. His character will be the suspense element in the film."

Actor Vishnu Vishal is the latest to join Vijay Sethupathi in his next flick with Seenu Ramasamy titled 'Idam Porul Eval'. Produced by Lingusamy's Thirupathi brothers, the film is set to go on floors soon with Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring the music. While Vijay Sethupathi had worked with the director in 'Thenmerku Paruvakaatru', Vishnu had starrer in Seenu Ramasamy's 'Neerparavai'.

Excited about sharing the screen space with latest successul actor Vijay Sethupathi, Vishnu tweeted "Joining hands again with an important director Seenuramasamy for ' Idam Porul Eval' under the prestigious banner of Thirupathi brothers. Also going to share the screen space with one of my favorite actors Vijay Sethupathi. Shoot will start after Veera Dheera Soorangets over. The Tamil film industry has many firsts to its credit. The latest invention the Red Dragon digital camera is to be used for the first time for a Tamil film titled Suriya to be directed by Lingusamy. Celebrated cinematographer Santosh Sivan is to use it after which the camera is to be sent back to Hollywood to be used by popular filmmaker Ridley Scott. Lingusamy said that he was proud that his film was going to be shot first using the camera before others. “I have the best of technicians on board for this film — cameraman Santosh Sivan, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja and editor Antony. Suriya plays the lead, and Samantha, his lady love. The shooting for the film, to be released in May next year, commences on November 15.

Chennai,Oct 17 (TruthDive) : Creating a trenchant mark of technical bonanza in the world of cinematography, Santhosh Sivan holds a prominent position on the global maps for being the first Indian Cinematographer to have his name in American Society of Cinematography.

This morning, it was a splendid moment to witness yet another incredulous extravaganza as Tamil industry becomes the first to shoot a film with ‘Red Dragon Digital’ Camera in the world. The test shoot of Suriya-Lingusamy’s untitled project happened at Prasad Studio that was thronged by the most fascinating engineers of ‘Red Camera’ and ‘Angenieux Lens’.

Following this film, the camera will be used by chart-topping filmmaker of Hollywood, Ridley Scott and many others. This indeed is a great happening in 100 years of Indian Cinema, where Tamil industry will step ahead to the next level surpassing Hollywood.

“I want the technological advancement to first happen in Chennai and this is one such sign,” says cinematographer Santhosh Sivan as he cranked the test shoot featuring Suriya in colourful attires. “Although the visual medium remains the same, such advancements in camera results in enhancing the pictorial details”, tots up Santhosh Sivan, who is handling cinematography for this untitled film following the grand success of Vijay starrer ‘Thuppakki’.

Director Lingusamy is  super-excited about having a league of fantastic technicians and is spellbound to shoot this film with ‘Red Dragon’. Shedding light on the film, “I have been waiting for a very long time to make a film with Suriya. Post-Vettai, I spent a quality time in nurturing this project and crafted this script. In the recent times, there are lots of young filmmakers rocking in the industry. I have to prepare myself to compete with them. This film is yet to be titled and we have an excellent team of technicians. I have been an ardent fan of Santhosh Sivan from the time I watched his ‘Thalapathy’. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores music, Rajeevan is the art director and Anthony is editor. Brindha Saarathy pens dialogues. Samantha plays the female lead role.”

Suriya, who was sported hot and handsome with beard said, “I am really privileged to be a part of this project. I have been the visual magic of Santhosh Sivan sir from my childhood and I’m happy to be a part of this project. It gets me more excited, we are the first one to use ‘Red Dragon’ Camera in the entire world and world-famous filmmakers like Ridley Scott are going to use it.”

The film goes on  floors from November 15 and is scheduled for release in May 2013.
