Manoj, Vidyut in Suriya's next with Lingusamy


The latest additions to the cast of Lingusamy's film
with Suriya are Manoj Bajpai and Vidyut Jamwal. While Manoj will be playing the antagonist in the film, we hear that the Thuppakki villain Vidyut will be essaying a prominent role in it.
A source close to the film reveals, "Manoj Bajpai will be playing the main villain in the film. He is a seasoned actor, and his character has been etched in such a way that it will bring out the best in him. And Vidyut, who has already worked with Ajith and Vijay in Kollywood, has been roped in to play an important role. His character will be the suspense element in the film."

Actor Vishnu Vishal is the latest to join Vijay Sethupathi in his next flick with Seenu Ramasamy titled 'Idam Porul Eval'. Produced by Lingusamy's Thirupathi brothers, the film is set to go on floors soon with Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring the music. While Vijay Sethupathi had worked with the director in 'Thenmerku Paruvakaatru', Vishnu had starrer in Seenu Ramasamy's 'Neerparavai'.
Excited about sharing the screen space with latest successul actor Vijay Sethupathi, Vishnu tweeted "Joining hands again with an important director Seenuramasamy for ' Idam Porul Eval' under the prestigious banner of Thirupathi brothers. Also going to share the screen space with one of my favorite actors Vijay Sethupathi. Shoot will start after Veera Dheera Soorangets over. And for the first ever time going to work under one of my favorite music director Yuvan Shanakar Raja. So excited and happy."

The Tamil film industry has many firsts to its credit. The latest invention the Red Dragon digital camera is to be used for the first time for a Tamil film titled Suriya to be directed by Lingusamy. Celebrated cinematographer Santosh Sivan is to use it after which the camera is to be sent back to Hollywood to be used by popular filmmaker Ridley Scott. Lingusamy said that he was proud that his film was going to be shot first using the camera before others. “I have the best of technicians on board for this film — cameraman Santosh Sivan, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja and editor Antony. Suriya plays the lead, and Samantha, his lady love. The shooting for the film, to be released in May next year, commences on November 15.

Chennai,Oct 17 (TruthDive) : Creating a trenchant mark of technical bonanza in the world of cinematography, Santhosh Sivan holds a prominent position on the global maps for being the first Indian Cinematographer to have his name in American Society of Cinematography.
This morning, it was a splendid moment to witness yet another incredulous extravaganza as Tamil industry becomes the first to shoot a film with ‘Red Dragon Digital’ Camera in the world. The test shoot of Suriya-Lingusamy’s untitled project happened at Prasad Studio that was thronged by the most fascinating engineers of ‘Red Camera’ and ‘Angenieux Lens’.
Following this film, the camera will be used by chart-topping filmmaker of Hollywood, Ridley Scott and many others. This indeed is a great happening in 100 years of Indian Cinema, where Tamil industry will step ahead to the next level surpassing Hollywood.
“I want the technological advancement to first happen in Chennai and this is one such sign,” says cinematographer Santhosh Sivan as he cranked the test shoot featuring Suriya in colourful attires. “Although the visual medium remains the same, such advancements in camera results in enhancing the pictorial details”, tots up Santhosh Sivan, who is handling cinematography for this untitled film following the grand success of Vijay starrer ‘Thuppakki’.
Director Lingusamy is  super-excited about having a league of fantastic technicians and is spellbound to shoot this film with ‘Red Dragon’. Shedding light on the film, “I have been waiting for a very long time to make a film with Suriya. Post-Vettai, I spent a quality time in nurturing this project and crafted this script. In the recent times, there are lots of young filmmakers rocking in the industry. I have to prepare myself to compete with them. This film is yet to be titled and we have an excellent team of technicians. I have been an ardent fan of Santhosh Sivan from the time I watched his ‘Thalapathy’. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores music, Rajeevan is the art director and Anthony is editor. Brindha Saarathy pens dialogues. Samantha plays the female lead role.”
Suriya, who was sported hot and handsome with beard said, “I am really privileged to be a part of this project. I have been the visual magic of Santhosh Sivan sir from my childhood and I’m happy to be a part of this project. It gets me more excited, we are the first one to use ‘Red Dragon’ Camera in the entire world and world-famous filmmakers like Ridley Scott are going to use it.”
The film goes on  floors from November 15 and is scheduled for release in May 2013.

Producer Linguswamy is all smiles, as his films 'Vazhakku En 18/9' and 'Kumki' are piling up awards after another. While 'Vazhakku En 18/9' bagged two National Awards, 'Kumki' amassed 9 top honour awards at Norway Tamil film awards.



Now the movies have collectively snapped five Film Fare Awards too. While 'Vazhakku En 18/9' was unanimously chosen for the Best Film Award, director Balaji Sakthivel was chosen to be the Best Director and Imman to be the Best Music Director. Poet Yuga Bharathi received the award for the Best Lyricist and Thambi Ramaiyah was awarded the Best Supporting Actor for the film 'Kumki'. Vazhakku Enn 18/9 bag national awards

A biopic based on the life of army athlete-turned-dacoit Paan Singh Tomar won the best National Film Award in the 2012 awards list announced here on Monday. The award meant that Paan Singh Tomar was the first Hindi movie in eight years to receive the honour. Irrfan Khan won the best actor award for Tomar’s role.
Even as the top honours went to Paan Singh Tomar, several meaningful films from south India bagged other awards.
Vazhakku Enn 18/9 won the best Tamil film award, and the best make-up artist award was bagged by Raja for the same film; Vishwaroopam won the best choreography award (Pt Birju Maharaj) and the best production design award (Lalgudi N Ilayaraja). Paradesi bagged the best costume design award (Poornima Ramaswamy).
Malayalam films won 13 awards in different categories. Chittagong (Hindi)  and 101 Chodiyangal (Malayalam) shared the award for the best debut film of a director. Based on the freedom struggle, Chittagong was directed by Bedabrata Pain, while 101 Chodiyangal is based on the special relation between a precocious child and his teacher.
The jury headed by filmmaker Basu Chatterjee chose 38 films from 14 languages for awards in various categories.
The jury conferred joint winners for many categories, thus widening the ambit of the awardees. The jury also awarded the ‘best popular film for providing wholesome entertainment’ to Vicky Donor (Hindi) and Ustad Hotel (Malayalam).
The awards will be given away by President Pranab Mukherjee on May 3.

Vazhakku Enn 18/9 has been awarded the Best Movie which was directed by Balaji Sakthivel and produced by Lingusamy's Thiruppathy Brothers. Prabhu Soomon was awarded the Best Director for his Kumki which was also produced by Lingusamy's home production. Imman has been selected as the Best Music Director while Lingusamy's Thiruppathy Brothers won the award for Best Production House. 



Kumki has won many awards which included awards like Best Actress, Best Playback Singer, Best Supporting Actor etc., Evidently, Thiruppathy Brothers have bagged the most number of awards at the Norway Tamil Film Festival with Kumki and Vazhakku Enn 18/9.
